2026 Richardson Trophy Matches
The Richardson Trophy is a matchplay team event which is participated in by all six Northern Counties of England, i.e. Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire, Durham, Northumberland and Cumbria.
Each County plays the other 5 counties every year in daily matches, played off scratch, with seven players per team.
In 2026 Yorkshire will have two home matches at Ilkley Golf Club and three away matches at Hale GC (Cheshire), Formby Ladies GC (Lancashire) and Furness GC (Cumbria).
The matches are hotly contested and winning the Trophy is the Jewel in the Crown for the winning County.
The winner of the Richardson Trophy is the County with the most match points.
Match Dates:
June 29th v Chesire at Hale GC.
Result: Yorkshire 5 Cheshire 2.
July 17th v Northumberland at Ilkley GC .
July 26th v Lancashire at Formby Ladies GC .
August 17th v Durham at Ilkley GC.
August 28th v Cumbria at Furness GC .

Richardson Trophy match v Cheshire June 29th Hale Golf Club
Yorkshire played their first match of the 2026 Richardson Trophy campaign at Hale Golf Club in Cheshire. The team of Ruth Skaife-Clarke, Emma Brown, Cath Lake, Lynn Wass, Karen Jobling, Julie Wheeldon and Heather Butcher took on defending champions Cheshire on a tricky and tight 9 hole course. In a closely fought contest, 3 matches finished on the 18th and 3 on the 17th, Yorkshire prevailed to win the match 5-2.
