The President’s Trophy, the last YSLGA competition of 2024 was held Woodsome Hall Golf Club. Sarah Arrowsmith, YSLGA President welcomed 99 ladies to play in the TriAM Stableford from 33 different clubs. Sadly a number of clubs were unable to come to Woodsome Hall due to heavy rain in their locality, whereas Woodsome was extremely fortunate with light drizzle which stopped early afternoon!
Queensbury Golf Club were the winners of the President’s Trophy with a great score of 86 points.

The last YSLGA AMAM of 2024 was held at Sand Moor Golf Club. A full field of 40 teams
played. The day was cool and apart form one heavy shower reasonably dry.
The winning team were from Cleckheaton with an excellent 92 points. There was a count back for the 4 th and 5 th prizes.

Oakdale was shrouded in mist after overnight rain, although players were able to tee off on time. Over the day there was periods of drizzle before clearing mid afternoon. There were 87 pairs playing with some very good scores.

A heavy dew at the start of the day, gave the indication that the seasons are changing. It was considerable cooler than it has been for a few weeks and a lot drier than last year’s Autumn meeting.
The playing field was split into two divisions, Division 1 winner was Jeanie Worby on count back from Liz Ripard and Division 2 Louise Wilson. The Best Gross Score winners (best Stableford Score without any shots) were for Division 1 Elaine Arnott and Division 2 Eileen Catt. Well played!

There were some very dark grey clouds circling Horsforth, just the one heavy shower before it brightened up although still mostly cloudy. A few count backs to work out the order of the winners as three pairs finished with 43 points and four pairs had 41 points.

Summer has finally arrived, with the warmest day of 2024 so far. The course was picture perfect with the blue skies. 100 ladies returned cards with the scores reflecting the improved run from the drier conditions, which provide its own challenges.

Congratualtions to Susan White from South Bradford Golf Club for doing the double and being the Overall winner of the competition again with 40 points. Gill Travis from Crosland Heath won the best gross score of 24 points (points without any shots) for the second year running too. The Over 75s winner, as Susan was the overall winner, was Olivia Lambert from Oakdale Golf Club with 36 points.

In the sunshine on the 18th at Forest Park - Julia Whittington (Oakdale GC), Enid Spencer (Scarcroft) & Maggie Warriner (York).
The course looked splendid, especially as there had been a lot of rain in the preceding week. The scores were close and a few count backs were needed.
The best gross was 35 by a team from Cleckheaton who also had the best nett of 29 (only one prize per team) so Best nett prize was awarded to the Horsforth team with a nett 30 on count back.

The second AMAM event was held at Middlesbrough Golf Club. Weather was cool at the start and then as forecast the sun came out.
Many thanks to everyone at Middlesbrough Golf Club for making us welcome. Val, lady vice captain and Karen for meeting us early in the morning, arranging for starters and raffle ticket helpers. Ladies enjoyed the course, and there were some very good scores.

The first of the 2024 YSLGA events was held at Selby Golf Club. After a very wet winter, it was a great relief to know the event was at Selby as there was yet again heavy overnight rain which saw quite a few clubs closed again.
Many thanks to everyone at Selby Golf Club for making us welcome. Elaine, lady captain meeting us early in the morning, arranging ladies to be starters and help. For many it was the first 18 holes they had played this year, with lots of comments on the presentation of the course.
The weather proved challenging as it was windy, it did mean the showers were soon over although especially in the morning they were quite heavy.
