I was absolutely delighted to have been asked by the Past Captains to be your Captain for the 2026 season.
Just as a bit of background, I come from a golfing family, but it was during my 10 years of teaching in the Dominican Republic that my golf improved dramatically and when I returned to the UK in 2003, I was a low single figure handicapper. Clearly, teaching in the Dominican Republic was not quite as challenging as in Manchester.
I have been a member at Ilkley for over 20 years and have been actively involved in all areas of the club, most recently as Club President. I joined the YSLGA committee in 2018 and have enjoyed meeting many of you either across the desk at events, through playing in the 2nd team or as a supporter/caddy for our County team.
I am looking forward to working with Karen (President), Mary Pat (Vice-Captain) and our experienced Committee to ensure the efficient running of the Association and our fixtures.
We have a full calendar of events in 2026, details of which can be found under ‘Membership’ on this website. The season begins with the Spring Am-Am at Brough and this is closely followed by the Championships at Ilkley where I am looking forward to welcoming many of you to my home club.
